Why are people paying $2500.00 for Playstation 3 on Ebay?

Its at least a little better than the $10,000 for a xBox 360 I saw once during Chirstmas.

Those with time on their hands are able to spend a day & a half waiting in line to get one for $500, then sell it for $2500. For some people, their time is worth more than that.

For me, I'll wait until I can pick one up for $50.

This is why I don't own game consoles. Yes they may be top of the line, but you *don't* have to have that good of graphics IMHO. I mean, they have pretty much hit the top unless you want to do 3d-graphics within a wearable headset. I think they have pretty much hit the peak, and it's going to just stay there till something new comes out.

I still find the NES and SNES Emulators on the mac and pc fine. those games seemed to have a lot better quality than the stuff they turn out now.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Because they can, or because they think they'll be able to turn around and sell it for $5000, or maybe they're wracking up the credit cards just before bankruptcy. In other words, a person who could care less about what things are supposed to be really worth at the moment--maybe or maybe not, blindly so.

I just went and checked. Notice they're newly listed 1-day listings. Looks like tulips to me. Hope they smell nice, at least.

Oh, and I should have added to the above: because they can and want to show off that they can, or because they can't but want to show off anyway. And then, of course, there's the mentally ill--the obsessive compulsives--who can be any of these. But who would think there's anything obsessive compulsive about video games?

By the way, if you catch the Major League Gaming tournament show on USA Network this morning, my wife made the funny puppet commercials promoting it. It's hopefully her first big break, so maybe I should be singing the praises of video games here. Umm...

It happens all the time. Look at the madness that happened with iPods last winter, cabbage patch dolls in the 80's, tickle me elmo in the 90's, and so forth. In these modern times, parents and tech junkies have to have it before anyone else does. Frankly, I think kids are way too spoiled these days, thanks to stuff like this. I didn't get my first NES until 1988, Sega Genesis until 1995, or Playstation until 1999. I wait it out and get stuff after the frenzy is over and prices plummet. I'm currently planning to get an Xbox and a PS2. Cheap cheap cheap!

Heck, you could still buy a new PS2 for under $130.
