Which should I use, OS 9 Shrinkwrap or OS X Toast, for System 7 CD backups?

Hi,

I want to make back up copies of my TAM (20th Anniv. Mac) CD set. Should I do it in OS 9 with Shrinkwrap or OS X with TOAST?

At least one of the CDs have a system folder on it and would have to be bootable.

Thanks,

MaxTek

You can use the OS X Disk Utility to make a new image with File/New/Disc Image from (Select a Device). Or, if you're CLI savvy, check the mounted CD device path and dd if=/dev/(device) of=Sys7CDBackup.iso. It's really fairly easy to do a bit-copy of a CD.

I forgot to mention that I will be burning them to CD at a later date. So the actual question is what is the best plan of attack so when I "do" burn bootable cds, the img files I created are usuable.

Will the OS 9 Shrinkwrap files be usable using my OS X Toast?

Er, you'd just burn the image

Er, you'd just burn the images you made. They are bit-wise copies. They take into account nothing of the filesystem on the CD or the file layout, just every bit as it is. If you don't want to modify the format of the CD at all a bit-wise copy is the only way to go.
