on my imac, when i wake it up from sleep, the mouse and keyboard don't work anymore! no cursor, nothing. Being a wireless set it has the transmitter thing hooked upto the imac, and that still blinks when i move my mouse or touch a key. Ive had to set it to never sleep, which isnt good, because we all need sleep, even computers :]
cheers
oh, and im using panther with all updates installed
thanks
The transmitter's connected to the USB port, right? Just unplug the transmitter from the USB port for a second and then plug it back in. Works when I have that problem.
tried that. still no go
Yeah, no cursor might mean your harddrive isn't spinning up. Might be time for a new harddrive. Has the harddrive made any new sounds or other symptoms of dying out?
no, all seems fine to me. no problems in that department. if it is ill be miffed, because seagates have always been good to me haha.
Have you tried a wired keyboard and mouse to see if the same problem happens?
its working again now...
wierd
To wake it up from sleep, you were hitting a key on the keyboard or moving the mouse, right? So that would probably rule out those two. You've run "repair permissions" in Disk Utility? I'd probably check to see if your harddrive is severely fragmented next. Techtool would probably be a good program to check things out, including checking your harddrive and RAM--which sounds like another possibility. The new Techtool checks the USB port too.
Also, is the firmware up to date?:
iMac updates
I notice there's a power management update for one that might be your computer (iMac with internal CD-RW drive).
