I Am Trying to install Mandrake Linux 9.1 on my PowerMac 9600, it installs fine but then i go to boot it and it gives me a kernel panic and this message No Init Found try passing Init= option to kernel, My boot X arguments look like this root=dev/sda6/ video=radeon Mandrake runs really well on my x86 box so i figured id make a switch to linux on the mac but getting it running is a pain in the arse. been working on it for 3 straight days and im officially lost

Hmmmmmm....
Shouldn't "root=dev/sda6/" actually read "root=/dev/sda6"?
Assuming that was just a typo here... are you *certain* that sda6 is your / partition? Perhaps the installer made a booboo. That "No Init Found" message is the generic "I can't see the root partition! (And therefore, can't start /sbin/init, the parent of all processes.) error message.
You could also potentially get this error if some sort of SCSI voodoo is causing your hard disk to not be recognized after the kernel loads. Not particularly likely, but remotely possible.

well i get it to start using the zImage kernel thats included with miboot, but now xwindows isnt working saying no screens found and I set it up to my voodoo 3 pci card
Usually stored in /var/log. (Look for files named something like "XFree86.0.log, or similar.) You should be able to determine from them what the problem is. A common source of errors is specifying video modes that are outside the scan ranges specified in the "MONITOR" section of XF86Config.
Just as an aside, my experience suggests that getting X11 to really work properly in Macintosh versions of Linux can be a huge POS. Particularly on Beige hardware. The "easy" way out is to use the console framebuffer X, but it's slower then snot.
Anyway, dumb question: Why are you specifying "video=radeon" in the kernel arguments if you have a voodoo3 card?
