Apple IIgs upgrade sources

Anybody know where I would be able to get a ZipGS/Transwarp GS and a RAM-GS card for my ROM 3 GS?

Seems that even eBay is kinda dry lately.

(Search for zip; brace for sticker shock)

GSE-Reactive has some spare parts for your eventual Zip/TWGS purchase:

prices don't seem TOO way out

I hadn't seen that site, David. I paid only slightly more for my ZipGS card- although, as they say, I should have waited on my change.

bd1308, I'm surprised that eBay is slow for Zips and Transwarps. For a while, AFTER I bought mine (say a year and a half ago), they were coming up pretty often, and reasonably priced. I'm thinking of selling my Transwarp for my IIe, but that won't help you any. If you are excited to get the parts sooner than later, then the site David recommended looks like a plan. When I was looking for parts for my ROM1 baby, I found precious few companies left. Sun Remarketing has little inventory from what they used to. There is ///SHH Systeme at
http://www.wbwip.com/shh/. They have some stuff, including their LanceGS nic. Oh yeah. There's also http://www.a2retrosystems.com/, home of the uthernet nic. A nic for my IIgs is the last real purchase I need, so it is heartening that both of these folks continue to sell to such a niche market!

GSE Reactive is definately the place for upgrade/repair goodies. They rock. I'm not working on my IIgs at the moment, but when I start putting money back on it, then I'm hitting 'em for some of their stuff.

Good luck tricking out a IIgs. I had a lot of fun with mine. Course, mine's only done when I can send email from it. I'm not quite there yet.

GSE Reactive I knew about. I

GSE Reactive I knew about. I have plenty of mac hardware to sell off to get the ZipGS. If thats what theyre going for, looks like I have no choice. Doesnt seem like anybody here is quick to give one up.

I plan to have a ZipGS, 4+MB RAM,a CF HD card(from GSE) and a Uthernet.

That would be a well-rounded IIgs. I recieved my first IIgs when I was eleven (i'm 21 now) and ive been hooked ever since. I just couldnt keep them, the parents kept on forcing me to donate it to reduce clutter. My last one (before now) had 4M ram (i'd like to find out what card was in it) but I am getting this Apple IIgs to start a new updated portal for Apple IIgs information. Most of the sites out there havent been updated in some time. I'll be on the lookout for a good deal on a card, but I appreciate the source for the card.

heh.

I hear you. When I came through public school, the IIe was still king. I always had a good time playing on them- whether playing was literally playing Crystal Castles, or progamming Logo. I decided that I'd just skip to the IIgs, be able to run all the classic stuff, and possibly convince the thing to get on the net. So I spent a good 6 months looking cards. I'm sporting a unmodded ZipGS, a Sirius RAM card, with 6 MB on it (since I understand that that is all that is really needed), a Sonic Blaster, and a Focus Hardcard with whopping 200 MB harddrive. I really like the Sirius RAM card, since it uses plain jane 30pin SIMMs. If I had the time I'd copy the card, as it has no custom chips on it at all that I've noticed. The Focus card works well, although I need to take it out and try to image it somehow for backup.

I had a CMS SCSI card on it, but decided that in the long run, if I needed SCSI, I'd wait for a High Speed Apple SCSI. But I really don't need it. Just the Uthernet or LanceGS.

So, yeah, I can't bear to part with the ZipGS in it. Not yet at least. Just playing Wolfenstein 3d on it once was enough to hook me Wink I paid about $300 for mine, which as I said was really too much. So you look like you're at least ahead of that!

I'd love to see an updated Apple IIgs portal. Folks get busy, sites get dusty. Sell you off some Mac goodies and buy that dude!

I'm going to buy it, if someo

I'm going to buy it, if someone else is interested in the ZipGS as well, I don't want to fight over it, but I'd like to purchase that card so I can have a basis for these cards and experience with some of the expansion/upgrade cards out there.

I don't know how software works with the Apple II, as I understand (at least with the vintage mac stuff) once the copyright license is up, its free reign unless the copyright holder objects? I'd like to get my hands on a TON of software, but I don't really want to get in the way of copyright violations or anything over this. I'd just like to provide an updated portal for Apple II resources and update it as links are available and become unavailable. I'd also like to research and find old sites and recover them via the Wayback Machine .

Long Story Short--I'd be intrested to buy the 16k cache card to put into my machine because i Will be using the Apple IIgs *ALOT*

There are a TON of Apple II portals out there already. Have you seen them all? Do you you really want to make (yet) another one? Maybe so; maybe that's why we have so many already. Smile

I won't even try to list them all. But a pretty slick one specifically for the IIgs is here:

I just figured this would be

I just figured this would be a fresh and frequently updated portal, but if the consensus is that one isnt needed, then I am ok with that.

I'm trying to scrounge for some form of RAM upgrade for the IIgs, because I feel like 1M just isnt going to cut it. Theres a RAMGS but its way over 150 and I honestly cant afford it at this moment.
