Voodoo 3 2000 Problems.

I've had a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI for a while now, the card works fine, however, the drivers seem to hate me. I've tried many copies of the drivers, and firmware, yet I still haven't got the drivers loaded, or anything working aside from unaccelerated video.

I have tried:
Firmware Driver
b12 Beta 12
b12 Beta 13
b13 Beta 13
b13 Beta 12

Under System 7.5, Mac OS 7.6, 7.6.1, 8.1, 9.0, 9.1, and hell, I've even tried it under 8.2 beta.

Under most settings the driver (extension) will simply load with an X through it and do nothing. Sometimes I can get the driver loaded, however the control panel will crash stating it is missing a library file or something silly, and any Glide, RAVE, OpenGL programs will crash.

Does anyone have a Voodoo 3 2000 working correctly in their system? If so, what firmware version and driver are you using? Also, what version of Mac OS are you running?

If possible I'd like to get a copy of the software and an image of the firmware you're using.

I have a V3 2000. It came from an IBM Aptiva, and I've tried flashing the ROMs to make it work with Mac. I'm not sure if it worked or not, though, cause my G3 won't see or use the card. I flashed the thing on a 6400.

Where can I find a flashing app and where can I find drivers?

I'll procrastinate later...

Search MachAch first . . .

ISTR a perpetual thread there with excellent information, instructions and bookmarks to the proper pages on that unbelievably contorted website that has the power supply diagrams, xlr8 or something like that.

SAVED AGAIN in midpost by the ole' back key hack! I HATE the way things work here now, can't wait for the fixup!

I've had no problems using the 3dfx flashing utility under Mac OS 9 on my G4 Sawtooth. I used the beta 13 ROM and the card works as advertised (ie, only in OS 9, best for Glide based games).

Mac 3dfx has a done of information and some files are still up.

I wasn't impressed with the card, but it does load the drivers on my 7500/G3 with OS 9.1

The Voodoo cards do too work in OS X

I successfully ran a Voodoo3 2000 in MacOS X 10.2 (haven't tried in 10.3) using a program called "NDrv Man". I also had no problems running it in OS 9 with pretty much any version of the drivers. (PowerMac 7500 + G5/500 + MacOS 9.2 with older OpenGL extensions (worked in 9.1 too))
