Can't get OS 9.2 to take to Ibook

Ok. I got a new System disk (Yellow 9) 9.2.1. I'm trying to load it on to my Ibook which carries 10.4. Install does not work and if I drag system folder over and drop it on to harddrive, later when in pref. it tells me that it can't work because I should have installed it from disk.

What do I do to get around this?

Thanks

What does the installer say?

What does the installer say? "does not work" is a bit vague. Are you running it from within OS X (bad) or booting from the CD? (good)

The system folder on the CD's root is just for the installer and won't work properly if dragged to a hard drive.

yea just boot from the instal

yea just boot from the install cd, and you will still be able to use it as classic mode in OS X, but booting it from the cd might not work ( like what was said) it depends on how new it is cause the newer models dropped the ability to boot OS 9,

if its to new to boot OS 9 there is another way to get OS 9 on it, use a old OS 9 supported machine to install it to a external HDD and take the instal and move it to the ibook heck you just might be able to burn the install from the HDD to a cd and copy it all from the CD to the HDD of the ibook. its just a thought cause i dont own a non bootable OS 9 machine.

Here'smy Problem

Like I said I put OS 9 on the HD but it's screwed up. I can't it installed correct. Being stupid I was trying everything and inadvertently set the corrupt OS9 as startup. Now I can't startup back into OSX. I've tried everything. I have a install 10.2 (TIGER) but 10.4 came on the Ibook so I hate to lose that setup.

I'm at the point right now of install OS 10.2 back on because I can't boot and see the settings to reset the startup. I really hate this but I've spent so much time screwing with this that if I ever get OS 9 off I want put it back on unless a tech does it.

Does that make sense. Crazy, isn't it?
