After seeing the cooling system on my friend's G5 back a few years ago when he first got it, ive been obsessed with it. I spent a long time trying to find computer cases that were even close to that one with no luck. Lian Li cases were close but cost alot more than i was willing to spend on such a thing. Then, maybe a year ago, i found the Antec Nine hundred. I was blown away by the fact that someone finally made something with some cooling power that didnt cost so much. I knew i was going to get one, but i didnt know when. Money is tight as a college student these days. I asked for one for christmas, so one day my mother asked me how to get one. I told her in stores it was selling for about $150, but on newegg it was going for a healthy $119 with a $40 mail in rebate. She jumped on the idea and basically i ordered it for her. I had my computer all installed in it by 7:15am christmas morning. I literally had to move the thing off the desk and out into the open floor so i can admire how cool it is...
I tried to upload pics but got an "directory full" error. I have since uploaded it to webshots for those who've never seen one, here it is: http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2330746250100912390dGmErk?vhost=good-times
Now some of you diehard mac-hack addicts should put a nice machine in that case
I don't like it. It's nowhere near as stylish as the G5. I def. wouldn't have bought that. But that's just me...
's not rally my cup of tea either. looks like a riced out pee cee, imo, but, whatever. If you like it, that is all that is important.
I think the inclusion of zoned cooling for PCs is a good idea overall. Re designed air flow is needed because the ATX standard was setup before the super hot CPUs were made. I've got one system that blow very hot CPU exhaust right onto the VRM capacitors on a Prescott-based Celeron. Not a good design, but that's how it's layed out. And the RAM blocks direct airflow from the case fan so it doesn't get a straight shot of cool air... In general most PC cooling setups are just a bunch of fans that try to move a lot of air and not really setup to just move what is needed. Zoned cooling is a big step in the right direction.
no doubt these things are not set up for effective cooling. it would be nice to see a new design.. im sure it would take some time to be transitioned in though.
