gaming on mac G5 PowerPC

Hey everyone. I've just recently run into a problem with my mac G5 PowerPC. I went out and bought NHL'08 in hopes that I could play it on my mac using a program like fusion. I also have the new macbook in which i tried to install fusion onto and this worked. However, when i went to play the game it wouldn't work and would just shut down (experienced an error and must be shut down). I don't have leopard on my macbook because there has been problems connecting to the PPPoE network, resulting in me not getting the internet on campus. The problem is simply that Leopard has left this option out. Tiger has PPPoE as an ISP. I know if I upgraded to leopard I might stand a chance at the game working on the macbook but what i am really wondering is if there is any way i can get my older G5 PowerPC to play the game rather than my laptop. Are there any programs that I can download??? other than fusion

*Keep in mind that leopard only installs boot camp if the G5 is Intel-based.. but mine is not. Someone help?

No

To run this game on your MacBook you'd have to use "BootCamp", not Fusion or Parallels. Both of those products only emulate (partially) DirectX 8.1. It says quite clearly in the system requirements that "NHL '08" requires DirectX 9.

The G5 is simply off the table. It's a PowerPC, not an Intel, as you might recall? None of the PC emulator software packages for PowerPC support 3D graphics *at all*. And even if they did the performance for a modern game would be completely unacceptable.

Sony Playstation2s are getting very inexpensive, particularly as refurbs...

And there's supposed to be a second revision of the slim PS2 out fairly soon too, for even less $$.

Target

I saw a crazy white slim PS2 at Target the other day, and they were crazy cheap, too.

I just looked up the PS2 on the Target website, and the console and a controller sells for just $129.99. That's about what my video card originally cost for my P4 system. There is an enormous library of games (and more are still being made) for the PS2.
