Repairing a bent G5 case

I recently purchased a dual 2.7 GHz G5 tower that has suffered some pretty major cosmetic damage, although the system works fine. Both bottom handles are bent flat with the case, and the rivets underneath the side door have all popped off. In addition, there is a fairly deep dent in the front grille. The problem I'm running in to is that the alloy these cases are made of is extremely springy, and returns to its (bent) shape whenever tension is released.

Any ideas?

Another suggestion ... ?

Maybe a better plan would be to search eBay for another comparable case. There are certainly machines out there with dead logic boards, dead processors, coolant leaks, etc.

Aye...

You can get a semi-decent G5 case from ebay for around $100 - $150 US.

G5 Case...

Lightning,

I observed at least one G5 on eBay this last weekend starting at $29.00 due to the fact that it was DOA. The case was in great shape.
You should check it out. Smile

I recommend taking it to a sh

I recommend taking it to a sheet metal shop (the case) and see if they can flatten/repair the bent items with their presses. They also have rivet tools, spot welds (if needed). It may cost $100.00 or so, but I think would be worth it. Again assuming this is a metal case and not a plastic one.

What in the hell happened to that poor G5!?
