Hey guys. Im almost done with the first part of my ACMT training so soon i will hopefully be able to contribute more to this forum! In the meantime ive got my macbook sitting here with a bunk keyboard. Im in a conundrum. i have all the apple diagnostics and firmware/efi stuff, ive tested all the capacitors and resistors on the LoBo, everything seems good. but i cant get it to power on because the power button is on the keyboard. is there a way to get it to fire up short of replacing with a known good keyboard?

Hi!
You should have two small metal pins you can press on the logic board to start the MacBook without a top case. If I recall correctly, they should be between the fan and the keyboard connector, you'll see it very easily because it's got a Power logo right beside it
You'll see all these tips and tricks once you have your ACMT and you have access to Service Source
I know its great, they tell me all about how to sign in to service source in the first exercise, then you cant actually do it! pretty awesome.
Anyway, Just an update for the sake of the search engine...
Power on button was a toggle on this one, not pins, and was located to the right of keyboard connector slightly under tab for optical connector.
And the LoBo is toast...most likely from not having all the screws in, a couple being used to ground various things. Probably shorted LoBo and maybe (probably) CPU too. What do you guys think?

look at the 1st picture
just short it with a screw driver, and if the macbook is any good it will boot
also the cpu is soldered to the LoB, so if the lobo dies everything is dead
