.SDK image to floppy

The images are .SDK and weight around 500k. When I try to transfer them with ADT from my MacBook, it freezes at maybe half way, tried three different images with same results.
Has anybody has done this before? Any other method of transfer that you recommend? Thanks in advance

Re: .SDK image to floppy

Sorry my last message was incomplete, here is the full one:

I have recently acquired a unidisk unit for my //c (Thanks Mutant pie!) and while playing with it, found some disk images with lots of apps in, ready to be copied to a3.5 inch disk. The images are .SDK and weight around 500k. When I try to transfer them with ADT from my MacBook, it freezes at maybe half way, tried three different images with same results.

Re: .SDK image to floppy

Hello Javster,
to reason that it freezes is that it is a format not known by ADT - upmore it is even not a floppyformat !
SDK-packages are a special format of packaging software libraries... Software Distribition Kit
see information at this link....
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd743043%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
i´m sorry, but i can´t explain why (in hell ) somebody started to use this format with apple-files.....
unfortunately it was done and lots of other guys followed up with this habit....

under normal circumstances SDK´s are used to keep integrity in platforms were lots of programmers are cooking the same soup.....
(i.e. unpacking SDK´s within specified Directories help to keep track with a so called revision tracking system - so it makes sure that 2 files with same name - it only keeps the one with higher revision number.... )

that makes only sense if several guys are working with same files and different versions of that files

- but in makes no sense at all for use as archiving format with old Apple-files

- especially due to the fact that only few know how to deal with that kind of files....

my advice : don´t touch SDK´s and search instead for same files as .SHK-files that might be unpacked with Shrinkit or

in real Disk-formats like .DSK or .PO !

SDK´s may only be transferred similar to ShrinkIt files .SHK ( they must be moved with file-copy programs only from one harddisk to another harddisk - unpacked there and then afterwards being transfered again with filecopy programs like Copy II Plus to a disk....

sincerely yours

You're among the first, as support for .SDK images just came out a couple of days ago with the 1.2.2 release of ADTPro. Can you point to the images on the 'net somewhere so I can take a look?
Any other method of transfer that you recommend?

Sure, use the new AppleCommander command line (AppleCommander-1.3.5.12-ac.jar) to convert the .SDK into a .PO and transfer that.

Re: .SDK image to floppy

It is a Shrinkit file, here is the link to the files:
http://apple2.org.za/gswv/a2zine/Sel/The202collection.html
They claim to use a version of amidos that boots from the 3.5 disk, I just wanted to use the drive and have more files per disk. Let me know what you think guys...

UPDATE: ADT 1.2.2 does the trick!! worked perfect. Thanks all, and hope you like the link!

Thanks again
