ok so i have this idea to set my 800 g4 imac apart from the masses. ok well its nuthin special just after vrowsing through the tons of pc modding sites and seeing all those pretty lights and crap i was inspired to apply that to my imac. i was thingking just to cut a clear sheet of thick plastic and make it the same shape as the base of my imac and then put some uber bright LED's in it and give my mac a sort a underglow look... will look sweet if the leds are blue then itll match my creature speakers and power mate... tell me what you think. any other ideas or actual attempts at modding a flat panel imac? let me know.

Maybe you could replace the apple logo on the front with a clear one and put blue LEDs around it and the bottom.
you could check out the aftermarket company macskins (http://www.macskinz.com/) for inspiration. some of the stuff is a little hokey for my tastes, but as a starting-point, it might be helpful...i dunno--some sort of acrylic frame around the LCD, with some LEDs embedded in it? also, remember lite-brite? maybe something inspired by that fun-for-an-hour toy.
:macos:
Isn't the white just paint inside of clear plastic?(at least on the back of the screen) if that is the case, dis-assemble the whole thing and strip the paint off some how, repaint it any color you want or just leave it clear. maybe use some of that "light bulb paint" and tint it the aple logo colors in stripes
You could dremel out a pattern on the back of the LCD and cover the holes with clear, colored plexiglass.
Hmm...I think i will try that on mine.
