I have been unable to find out what the CFM and the dBA of the original Color Classic fan is. While I am doing an upgrade, I would like to move more air and perhaps use a fan that makes less noise.
The fan most often referred to as a replacement fan for the color classic has a CFM rating of
24 and a dBA rating of 21. How this compares to the original is still unknown to me. Anyone know?
I found a after market fan that is the same size as the original fan in the color classic, and it is rated at 42.6 CFM and 25 dBA.
It is a Lepa 80mm x 25mm 70D Cooling Fan, model number LP70D08R.
Here it is on Amazon for $7.60 plus free shipping, and you do not need to buy $34 worth of stuff to get free shipping:

Be sure to buy the 80mm one.
This fan is only 25mm thick. The Color Classic house the original fan sits in, can support a 32 mm thick fan. Bugger fan = more air movement, right? Right. But it also means much more noise. I saw dBA numbers of 40 + with 32mm thick fans. A bit too much or me.
