I bid for this one... It sold for a couple of hundreds more than I thought it was worth... A high serial number A2 plus but with a raised power-key keyboard and a duodisk drive.

yes, that's one rare beast. Plus the transwarp card was a nice bonus.

Well, considering they made less then 3,000 of those keyboards, and there is over 7 billion people on earth, not everyone can have one. Supply and demand.

Not a rev 0. It has a late model motherboard without RAM blocks. It appears to be cobbled together from parts. II+ base, late model motherboard and power supply, and early keyboard. It went for about the right price, since the accelerator and the keyboard are the only valuable parts. It might even be a totally intact II+ with the keyboard swapped for an older model.

Re: Did Anyone Else Spot This?

The keyboard was used longer than the rev 0 run. I think they went up to about 15,000 or so in the Apple II and some early II+s turn up with that keyboard as well.

The one in the auction is rev 0 only.

Well you can see the circuit board sticking out in the photo. Only the early revision 0 keyboard has that feature.

Interesting! I didn't realize that there was more than one version of the keycap light keyboard. Now I need to go look at mine and see if they're different.

here's a picture showing the difference: (the one on top is REV 0, one on bottom is the more common style.)

Re: Did Anyone Else Spot This?

Sure enough. My rev 0 has the keyboard that sticks out and two rev 3s have the shorter keyboard. Now I'm amazed that I never noticed before.

Re: Did Anyone Else Spot This?

IIRC, the Earlier Keyboard design is Very Sensitive to Static.. So it can be damaged to the point of Unusable..

Be Careful....

Re: Did Anyone Else Spot This?

Is there anyway to reduce the static issue? I notice a lot of the later Apple II keyboards have anti-static foam taped to the underside of the encoder chip. Would that solve the issue on this earlier type?
