GSOS Hide a partition?

Howdy,

I'm using a SCSI2SD w/ a rev c SCSI card. For some reason when I use adv drive utility to partition device into 4 partitions I always get a fifth 512k, empty, hfs partition named "driver" that I didn't set up??? I was wondering if one might be able to disable this partition from auto mounting or otherwise make it invisible from the finder?

How big is the SCSI drive you're trying to partition? The largest drive that GS/OS, and Prodos, can handle is 32MB, unless you are formatting the drive for HFS and have the HFS.FST instslled. So if your drive is larger than 128MB that could explain the fifth partition.

Re: GSOS Hide a partition?

Actually, I am partitioning as follows

(2gb total space)

1-32mb prodos
2-32mb prodos
3-32mb prodos
4-32mb prodos
5-32mb prodos
6-remaining space hfs

I have a similar partition scheme with my microdrive, but no empty 512k "driver" partition there. Furthermore, I should say that when I partitioned it with a quadra, the Mac would make a driver partition (invisible and only 16k) but will only allow for max 2, 31.5mb, prodos partitions.

Re: GSOS Hide a partition?

Just a little update here... (FYI, I using GSOS 6.0.3, 8MB RAM, ROM1)

Interesting note is another 2gb partition showed up outta the ether. Strange :/ I formatted it HFS from the finder. This partition wouldn't show up in adv disk utility only in the finder after I wiped the previous partition map... AND whilst the first 2gb showed an icon that resembled a hard drive on top on two other hard drives, this mysterious partition uses an icon of a single drives (as do partition on my Reactive Microdrive). Pretty strange (at least to me a ][noob) Smile

Also, the positive results obtained with this device were obtained with only the SCSI2SD connected to a Clone revC card (With the SCSI2SD providing termination). When I pace the SCSI2SD after an AppleCD 150 the IIgs won't boot (appears gs is looking for boot partition on CDROM).

If I place the SCSI2SD on it's own SCSI card and the AppleCD 150 on another card (Apple revC Slot#1, Clone on revC Slot#7) I can only get "Fatal System Error" or garble nonsense.
