Trinitron Donor Display for a 5xxx hack?

Does anyone know of a top notch MultiSync donor display with a Trinitron CRT that'll bolt right up to the sheet metal faceplate of the 5xxx chassis?

It doesn't matter at all if the electronics involved in disemboweling the monitor for transplant into the hack are Mac or VGA . . .

. . . hrmmm . . . a VGA/BNC switchable display would be ideal, now that I think of it!

I definitely want a Trinitron . . .

. . . thanks for the offer, but the 5260's CRT will be fine for the time being. What I really want is better quality and the flexibility REAL Display's power supply will give me so I can run it off several CPUs with an integrated custom KVM setup. Ideally, I'm looking for a VGA/BNC switchable display in the 16-17"range if a bolt compatible 15" Trinitron isn't available.

The RoadApple/WasteBasket(tm) guts will have morphed into a 16u MultiMacRackHack(tm) before I'm finished with mucking around with them!

What about early model "Hook"

What about early model "Hook" (is that right, can't remember the prototype case design name) all in ones like the LC 520? It's only a 14" screen, but it's a Trinitron, and it might work with a 5xxx case. The 5xx and 5xxx series ought to be fairly similar, so some of the parts might be transferable (like the analog board, etc). I don't know a whole lot about these machines, though. (Which is why I just picked up a 5400/200. Man, the video on these things really sucks! 640x480 at 16-bits? Sheesh, my 6100 can do better!)

Doesn't the 5xxx series use a shadow mask display? If so, a Trinitron might not fit perfectly into the housing (though if you take away the plastics, I guess that's not a problem).

Sony (yeah, imagine that, Sony made Trinitron monitors! ;)) made some good 15" Trinitrons that you ought to be able to pick up on eBay for cheap. If you can handle the shipping charges.... But I'd say a Sony display is probably your best bet.

Peace,
Drew

The LC575 has a 14" trinitron

The LC575 has a 14 inch trinitron monitor and as stated there are alot of Sony 15 inch monitors out there for sale. You would just have to try it.
