House lighting circuit diagram

Hi all,

How do the lights which have 2 switches work? When you press on the light turns on. When you press the other the light turns off...or you can each one twice to turn and off etc. It means that one can always turn the light on from any switch and off from any switch....its independent of the other switch.

Anyone have a circuit diagram?

Thanks

Thanks for that :) I did not

Thanks for that Smile I did not realise that light switches were different from standard push to make latching switches and hense was trying to work out how it worked with basic switches.

Second question: Is stan

Second question:

Is standard hotmelt glue, from a standard home glue gun a good enough insulator to be used with 240V connections?

I'd guess it'd insulate well enough... but I wouldn't use it. It's soft, and at any heat or short it would just disappear.
There used to some black goo in a can you could use like that... for old-fashioned wiring... probably not really a good idea either. The good vinyl tape that is sold for house wiring applications is maybe twice as thick as the cheap stuff.

Thanks again. Its just that

Thanks again. Its just that I wanted to stop a 240V relay from rattling around in a project box by hot gluing it to the bottem of the box(the circuit was so simple there was no need to drill a circuit board)

And FYI one CANNOT make a 3-w

And FYI one CANNOT make a 3-way setup using regular switches. We have had to deal with several DIY homeowners who just don't get the concept. 3-way switches are DPST, regular switches are SPST. Very different.
