Thinking more about that,

Thinking more about that, Apple II does not seem to be a good choice as the text mode is interleaved and a pain in the neck as all Apple products.

While the PET has linear Textbuffer and a quite simple design. But actually the 4032 with it's CRTC has some almost unknown feature, it can address memory the same way as the VDC in the C128, it also has the auto increment feature what would simplify an emulation. The 6545 also has a hardware cursor that is not used and like it's wired in also not directly useable.

Nevermind i was wrong. I

Nevermind i was wrong. I briefly connected pin 12 of the keyboard socket to 5V and it works. I got a single blonking @ symbol
