Apple II video output issue

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on a problem I'm having with the video output of an Apple II that I recently acquired.  As you can see by the attached pics and videos, sometimes the output is white and you can almost make out the characters behind the white, sometimes it's a greyish tint and other times it looks okay but then the color flickers in and out (video taken of it running Micro League Baseball).  I've used my composite video cable and LCD monitor with my Apple II Plus and IIe with such no problems so I don't believe those are the culprit.

Has anyone seen something like this before?

Thanks in advance,

--Chris

Have you adjusted the output

Have you adjusted the output level?  The small trim pot at the right rear corner of the game port?

I'm kind of at a stand-still

I'm kind of at a stand-still with this and wondering if the motherboard is just going bad.

I think he was suggesting you

I think he was suggesting you adjust the video level pot, not the color trim cap.

Video output on earlier Apple

Video output on earlier Apple II boards is very non-standard and won't work on lots of LCD's - it usually has these issues. Even with color CRTs I've had trouble with the color killer circuit.

Adjusting the video level pot helps but I guess it's time to pick up a monochrome CRT.  Being that this is an Apple ][, I guess I'll look for a Monitor III, to be sort of period correct.

Thanks guys!

Well, I picked up a Monitor

Well, I picked up a Monitor III cheaply (finally) and the video output looks fine with the Apple II.   As you mentioned, the II didn't like my LCD while my II+ and IIe do fine with it. First II I've owned so I just wasn't as familiar with some common issues.

Many thanks for the recommendation!
