I recall back in elementary school a computer lab we had. It was all IIe machines, and they had a box attached to them with a ribbon cable. The box had LEDs and pushbuttons on the front, I seem to recall they said "SIDE A" "SIDE B" and "LOAD".
The things were all networked back to a main machine that had disk drives on it, and a more advanced box attached. As I recall you loaded the desired software disk into the main unit, and the workstations could then "load" off the main system.
I want to say it was called "SchoolNet". I don't think it was an Apple product and I don't think it was "SchoolBus".
Anyone remember anything like this?

How about Corvus Omninet or Digicard D-Net
No, neither of those. The external piece of this thing was a white plastic box about half the length of a Hayes modem.
CompuLynx SchoolMate IIe
You win! Not sure where I was getting SchoolNet, but I suppose I was close. Thanks for closing the gap.
The thing was pretty neat. I remember the teacher let me operate the head end one day because the person who normally did it wasn't around. It was pretty cool :)
