Are these leads supposed to be soldered together?
I am recapping a Mac Classic analog board (630-0395) and noticed while cleaning that on the solder side of the board, one of the leads on RP40 is soldered into DP12s pad. Is this normal? Or should they be separate? This board looks to be untouched or repaired. Thanks for helping!

Both pads are connected to

Both pads are connected to the same trace so the touching leads are not a problem.

Correct

Jeff is correct. Note, however, that you wouldn't do this on purpose: it makes the component leads harder to rework than they already are on that wide trace with extra solder stripes. The stripes are added to lower the resistance of the trace beyond what is possible using copper alone, and indicates that it uses high current. The lower component lead also looks like a "disturbed joint" which causes connectivity problems.

By this time Apple may have been bringing in the analog board as a populated unit from subcontractors, which could have caused quality problems like this not to be caught. It wouldn't have been revealed during burn-in testing.
