Hello! Apple kit on it's way!

Hi to All,

I have finally got round to buying some Apple IIe kit. This was the machine I could not afford in the eighties so at the time, I marched into Dixon's with 150 quid and bought an Atari 130XE with a 1050 disk drive which kept me going for a few years! Having just re invested in Atari again my thoughts turned to Apple. I was pleased to find that it was possible to create original floppies from images (just like Atari) as I do not like emulators, and even more surprised that the software was free!

So I am eagerly awaiting delivery of two Apple IIe computers, a duo disk drive and a single disk drive II. Hopefully this will re-create the 80's mood!

A couple of questions though, one of the machines has a 120v power supply. can this be converted to 240v or shall I have to use a transformer or purchase a 240v PSU? (I've seen one on ebay and the seller states that the power unit can be set for either voltage?)

The other question is, will the composite video output work on a UK display or are modofications needed for this?

I,m sure when I get the kit, more questions will need to be asked!

Thanks in advance,

Richard.

Hello retroaudio,

I use many US Apple //e in France, always with a step-down transformer.
I've heard on CSA2 that it's possible to turn a 110V power supply into a 220V one with simple modifications. But I haven't tried this myself.

No trouble with the composite video : just connect the video output into a television via the S-Video plug and you're done !

Enjoy,

Thanks amauget,

It was the video I was more concerned with so that's sorted.

I do have a 110 tranny but would like to mod the PSU if anyone can help.

Looking forward to the weekend to travel back in time!

Cheers,

Richard.
