Looking for ImageWriter II SW2 factory settings

Hello all,

I have 3 ImageWriter II printers and the manual says do not touch the SW2-5 and SW 2-6 as they are reserved for technicians for hammer strike. I haven’t touched them and all printers work fine. But I just noticed on one of the printers the SW2-5 and SW 2-6 are set oppositely from the other 2 printers. Is there even a factory setting for these or does it vary from printer to printer based on how it was tested from the factory? I don’t plan on touching them I was just curious.

It is an individual setting

It is an individual setting per printer. It adjusts the firing hammer. There is an adjustment procedure listed in one of the Apple technical procedures manual. It says it should only be done if the carrier belt, shaft, motor, or PC board is replaced.

To check your alignment, print two rows of some capital H's. Vertically they should line up. If one row is offset, then you would change only one of the switches and try again.

Thanks Nick.  I thought it

Thanks Nick.  I thought it might have been set to the individual printer.
