I have an Apple IIc and I can't get the floppy to spin up "unless" I unplug the floppy cable from the floppy drive slightly. When only 2-3 pins are making contact the floppy spins the disk very nicely and the red disk use light comes on. When I have the floppy cable plugged in all the way I can't get the IIc to make the drive do anything.
Any ideas? Thanks.
I'm just speechless what ideas can be performed to destroy CMOS chips.....

Max,
Do you have a spare cable?
Steven
? Are you saying I destroyed it by removing the cable powered up?
No I don't unfortunately.
Yep,
by disconnecting that cable you interuppted the groundline....
that is the safest method to destroy a bunch of the CMOS chips....
I'll bet that at least 3 or 4 chips at controller and drive have been destroyed....
spin up of the motor only indicates the connection to the powerlines without control....

CMOS chips on the motherboard or floppy drive board?
yes... BOTH...
TIP:
it would be usefull to provide better detailed info's
which model of the IIC ? There are beside 3 Versions IIC,IIC+, etc. also 4 Rveisions....
Picture of the Mainboard ? The reason is also to detect mods....
At the simple IIC the drive has a souple of similarities with the Disk II drive....(MC3470 )
And at the different Models and revisions there are different chips used on the mainboard....
Do you also have alternate a AppleII+ Rev. RFI with Disk II Contoller ?

I will get some pics uploaded. I do not have any extra parts. My basement is filled with Apple stuff but it starts with the 128k and above.
Decided to toss it in the garbage. Not worth my trouble. I prefer Mac OS. Thanks everyone for your help.
Hi MaxTek - The keyboard, case, and chips in that IIC have value. You could easily get $40 just for the keyboard and probably $30 for the case
Hunter,
$40.00 for a IIc Case?
What planet are you on?
Steven
I hope you're joking. You would have had no trouble selling it...even broken.
Heck- I'll fix it for you! Please grab that thing outta the trash!
Let me know- I have pro-desoldering/soldering gear. Send me a PM if you've not yet trashed it
