Hello,
I have an obscure question. I have old computer files written on a System 7 Mac with Word in version 5.1 or older. Would Word 5.0 read 5.1 and older documents reliably? I plan to print them out and scan the files to PDF.

Word 4.0, 5.0 and 5.1 have a common file format so documents should be interchangeable. If you can find a copy of Adobe Acrobat for Mac (the full version, not just Reader), it should be straightforward to convert your Word files directly to PDF.
