eeun is the new moderator of the FS and WTB forums. With his help, we're hoping to improve the signal-to-noise ratio in the these forums and more strictly enforce the "send replies privately" rule. If your reply is not relevant to other members, please send it directly to the seller. Private correspondance posted publicly will be deleted, with a reminder sent to the poster.

At Tom's suggestion, we'll move slowly into stonger moderation of these two forums. This will give everyone time to get used to the process.
The idea is to make it easier for everyone to navigate the threads to see if an item's still available, or read any additional information the original poster has provided.
Using the FS/WTB for discussions makes this more difficult, as do "sent you a PM" or "dibs on ..." posts.
Easiest way to put it is that only under rare circumstances should anyone but the original poster add a reply or comment to a FS/WTB thread.
It would help if, at least in the short-term, posters added "send replies privately" to their FS/WTB posts.
Stickies have been added to the top of the FS/WTB forums.
Again, anything that needs clarifying, or any if you have any suggestions, this is the thread for them.
The stickies look great. Thanks to Tom and eeun for your efforts in helping streamline those two forums.
Best,
Matt
Congrats on your promotion eeun
TOM
im not such a big fan of this policy. i have had 2 posts removed by eeun for suggesting a seller put in prices of what he wanted for his items. seems silly for that to get removed when other mac forums that i use more often now because of this, dont have this policy. i have seen many exampes of people posting prices, asking prices, etc and they didnt get removed. i feel as though i have singled out over and over again. its seems unfair. if i cant why does everyone else get to??? i understand its a slow transition over to this, but i seem to be the only one getting in trouble, me who barely posts here anyway. i mean i have over a 1000 posts on another unamed mac forums and no problems, never had my posted removed ever since august 05'. please tom take this into consideration for your forum, or i feel users will go elsewear. tom, im not trying to be mean, and i like applefritter, but stuff like this only makes people unhappy. thanks for your time, and im just a user a low man on the pole here.
No one's being singled out, and no one's in "trouble."
When a post that is not in accordance with the new policies is removed, a PM is sent to that user so that 1) they can contact the seller/buyer through PM instead, and 2) so that they become aware of the new FS/WTB policy.
If someone needs a second reminder, or third reminder, they're sent one. And that's all it is...a reminder.
Post made in those forums prior to the new policy are being left alone because there was no policy in place at that time.
macg4, 7 minutes before posting this complaint, you responded to a FS/T post with:
Have you even read the policy?
i have been using my pm's here all day to conduct business. thank u all and good day
You misunderstand. You're supposed to respond privately to the seller without announcing publicly that you are doing so.
ok i understand tom. i figured voicing my opnion about this wouldnt help and i was right. oh well thanks all for your replies and have a good day. i wont be violating that policy anymore so you can leave me alone now.
now tom and other mods this matter isnt a personal attack on you guys. I think you tom are a great guy overall and have created a wounderful site and you know probably more mac stuff then i do. i love your guides, and pics here. i have been looking at applefritter for years and loved it, but only joined a year or more ago. i have a few friends on here that also post over on the forum i use most (68kmla.net) and its a great place here. so please forgive me for being an ass about this, i dont really mean to be, sometimes when i get mad about something like this that just the way i am. anyway good day to you tom and others and keep up the great work
