Thinkpad 701c - dead?

Hello folks,

Was messing around with my new Thinkpad 701c - see here: http://www.applefritter.com/node/10471

I was copying files off the floppy, and then the hourglass came up and everything just stopped.

Like an idiot I turned the computer off.

When I turned it back on again, it wouldn't start up.

A blinking cursor (white on black screen) showed up in the upper-left corner as usual, but nothing happened after that - no RAM check, no nothing.

Also, I don't know what the following means, but... normally when it starts up a green "52" shows up in the lower-right corner of the screen. Since this problem happened, that number is now "30" instead.

As you can tell, I know very little about non-Mac laptop hardware.

Right now the unit is off with the AC unplugged (the battery, being very old, is apparently dead). Should I just let it sit, or should I try a particular procedure?

Or is this thing toast?

Matt

Never Mind

I let it sit for a little bit and it started up again, after some delay.

Sorry!

Best,
Matt
