How do I use partitons other than the 8-gig limited partition in OS X?

This is probably an RTFM issue, but I don't have the manual to read. I'm at 10.2.8 on a beige G3 MT, and I'm trying to use Disk Copy to copy the 10.4 DVD out to a partition with enough space to hold it. Disk Copy only shows me areas on the 8-gig-limited first partition.

How do I tell it to use another partition or the second hard disk?

Thanks!

re: disk utility

I don't remember what it was called, but I partitioned it with the apple disk utility when I first installed 9.0. I created a 5-gig partiton #1, a 2-gig partition #2, and a hundred-some-odd gig partition #3. I also created a 128 gig partition on drive #2.

Should I try something different?

Thanks!

Try partitions of < 20 GB

My Beige G3 wouldn't see partitions of over 20 GB in OS X. So I partitioned my 30 GB HD into 8 GB (system) + 11 GB (storage 1) + 11 GB (storage 2).

Hope this helps.

Partitions < 20 GB

Having nothing of value on the 2nd drive, I partitioned it into 6 small partitions of 19.9 GB or less. They still didn't show up in the disk copy window, so I went to partition 1 and created a folder called Disk Images. That didn't show up, either, but then I dragged the Disk Images folder into the favorites button and restarted disk copy. It now sees the Disk Images folder and I am creating the image there (goodness knows how long it will take, it's been going for a half hour and the progress bar is only at about half done).

Thanks for the info! Next time I'll try doing the folder-create-and-drag-to-favorites from a big partition and see if it works.

Partitions < 20 GB

Just to update, I created a folder in a 115-gig partition and dropped it on favorites. It works just fine with disk copy.

Thanks for your help, everybody!

Partitioning

Yes, the 115G partition was done with the 9.0 setup disk - I have three partitions on my first drive: 5G on partition #1, 2G on partition #2, and 115G on the third partition.
