Hidden RAM slot in iBooks?

Is there a 'hidden' RAM slot in the ibook G3 Dual USB's? I know there was a RAM slot on Powerbooks that was "Apple Techs Only". I want to put 512MB in my iBook with 2 256MB sticks but so far I have heard that there is one slot, and that the original RAM was 'onboard'- that you can't remove it.

Sorry ...

On the iBooks, what you see is what you get. iBooks only have one ram slot (clamshell to iBook G4). Traditionally, PowerBooks will have two ram slots, but both of which are right next together. The only consumer portable that Apple has released with two ram slots is the presently shipping macbook.

As for the Apple Techs Only ram slot - that was on the G3 PowerBooks and tray load iMacs where the second memory slot was on the bottm side of the CPU board. Fortunately (depends on your opinion of being able to remove the CPU), this hasn't been the case since 2001 (with the release of the titanium PowerBook G4. Hope this helps.

I upgraded my Lombard using the RAM slot on the bottom of the CPU, did not find that too difficult (Nothing seems overly difficult after replacing the PRAM Battery on a Wallstreet, who came up with that location?!)

gnomes with tiny fingers. I need to replace that on my WS, as it will only keep the date for a few minutes, which isnt long. i'm not looking foreward to that, but it's critical to ubuntu, or else GDM wont start upt, and I have to start in failsafe terminal and type "sudo date -s "day month HH:MM:SS year"" to fix it.

wallstreet PRAM

I used the repair guide from ifixit.com . I don't recommend buying the battery from them (too high price),but the free install guide and screw chart was nice. (Free download regardless of purchase or not)

ya, I know. PBfixit has great guides. anybody know where too get the battery? I would use ebay, but dunno about the quality of them there. i know somebosy was selling a used mains battery that only got 30 minutes, and my battery gets 3.5 hours. not bad for an 8 year old computer.

PRAM Battery

I have one I could sell you for $22 (free shipping)- PayPal or Money Order. My Wallstreet screen died a month after I installed the new PRAM battery, so I parted it out. Haven't sold the battery yet. DOA Warranty, just in case.If you're interested, just let me know so I can get you a PayPal bill or whatever.
