Colour Classic almost starting up...

Hi,
I have a Colour Classic, which has been sitting a while without a battery (the batter y was working but pulled for another machine) I'm guessing maybe a week or 2 without a battery on the board. The battery was still usable in another machine (it's a fairly new battery).

Now that I've put it back, the machine is no fully starting up.

When turning on, I get the standard chime for starting up, but then it's followed by a longer chime, almost a short tune! The screen turns on and is blue. That's it. Doesn't seem to move on from that point.

Googling brought up some issues, but none seem to have worked. I've tried the Command + Option + P + R to no avail. There's no PRAM switch on the board. There's nothing in any Service or User Manuals that I can see. What does the chime/tune mean?

Thanks in advance,

Alan.

Bad ram, Mrs. Torrance . . .

Hey,

More than likely it's the RAM. Reseat it if you can and clean the RAM chip contacts with a pencil eraser (if people still have those).

Spot on. I removed the RAM (why didn't I try that earlier?) and it sprung into life. Tried the eraser and some alcohol and still no luck with the chip tho. I'm just happy it's not dead Smile

Thanks for your help
