Two simple suggestions:
1. You have some sort of activity icons so we know when a forum has new posts, etc. - like in YaBB or phpBB
2. You make the text for [post] and [add comment] clearer, so possibly in a different olour or an image?
It took me ages to find the thing - before you highlight it it just looked like normal text.
