Dos 3.3 Disk Repair

Hi

I have an old DOS 3.3 disk that's got an error on it, and it won't catalog. It's one of the most important disks I want to get the contents off, and I kind of valuable remember years ago doing something to it, and I think I might have damaged the catalog track. I wonder is there a way to repair disks on Apple 2's as it's been so long I cannot remember if there is any options.

It would be best to try and read the disk off to repair, as the content was very valuable. I seem to remember it might have just been the catalog track that was damaged, but that's all I can remember.

Regards,

Grant

Try Dark Program to check the Diskette?

Is this Disk in .DSK format , for use with Applewin? Or is this an actual floppy Diskette? And , have you tried using Dark? Disk Automated Repair Disk? This program actually does a good job checking the Catalog track and all tracks and sectors pretaining to the Diskette and tries to repair it automatically as long as there is no physical damage to the Floppy Diskette itself.

If you need a copy of DARK in either .DSK or actual Floppy , let me know.

It's an actual floppy

Hi,

It's an actual floppy and as far as I know the disk itself is ok, just the data. I am still waiting for a serial cable so I can transfer some of these disks over to the Mac to run on an emulator. What do you recommend and can a damaged disk be transferred, or should I try and fix it on the original floppy?

Grant

Hi Have you tried Verify disk

Hi Have you tried Verify disk and viewing the disk with Sector Editor with Copy II+? If the data is very valuable, it may be helpful to do so first before fixing the orginal floppy since you can see exactly wich sector(s) is(are) bad and also at the same time access partial non corrupt data on the disk. 2eor2c

Copy II Plus

They have had several sets of Copy II + up on eBay as of late. I've seen versions 8.5 and 9 for sale in the last week.

Go for it! Smile

If anyone needs anything transfered from .DSK to a 5 1/4 floppy disk let me know , I have tons and tons over .dsk images of software that is cracked and transfers perfectly with ADT.

What would be the copyright on this stuff now? I assume all these companies are long gone now?

Most of these companies are l

Most of these companies are long gone. If you have an extra diskette you can use ADTpro to transfer Sector Editor with Copy II+ to your apple II. You can probably find these images on the internet in .DSK format.
