I just got a cable modem through Charter cable, and I'm connected to it via ethernet cable through a DLINK 514 wireless router. (I'm not entirely sure the crappiness of DLINK products aren't to blame here.) When I launch a P2P app like ACQLite or mlMac I can connect to other computers, search and locate files, but when I try to download the files they become queued and do not download.
I've disabled the firewall on the router, then enabled it and open the ports I need and even set my mac up as a DMZ computer with no restrictions. Nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have an idea, know of problems with this router or Charter?

oh, I put this here because it seems to need some trick that's a little more than standard to get to work.
I was able to use these apps without a problem at school, it's this setup that's causing the problem, I haven't changed any settings on my mac.
... that you are connecting to busy servers?! Let the items queue up and then wait. If your status doesn't change after 24 hours, then I'd start to wonder.
I've connected to some P2P servers where I have to wait literally HOURS before my queue position moves up even one spot.
Downstream (downloading) connections shouldn't be a problem, even with a firewall. If the ports were locked down, you probably wouldn't even have been able to connect to the remote server.
