Hi, I live in Sweden and recently bought an Apple Ii europlus. MB rev 7, date 8104. Some minor problem with the PSU and ROM chip but that is fixed. The keyboard will not work. The keyboard is Apple 605-4155-0. The encoderboard is made by a swedish compamy WEAB ( Wermlands Elektronik AB) that made kb accessories for Apple II. This company closed in 1984.
The KB in this Apple II Europlus consists of original Apple KB, encoderboard from WEAB, numerical keyboard from WEAB and a small PCB ( named APPLE MUX )that plugs in at the 16 pin connector at A7 on the MB( J1). J2 and J3 connects to KB vs numerical board. . The J1 connector was broken and now replaced.
When I run the MB with another working KB with Apple encoderboard its working perfect
Whan I run it with the WEAB boards it shows wrong letters . The QWERTYUIOP is working fine but rest are wrong and changes. Reset is not working. The separat numerical KB is in fact working perfect.
I have replaced the Encoder ROM KR 3600-017 with one new from Joe Strosnider, but the same result. There are three 16-pin connectors and possible risk for wrong position of the cable. I have replaced the 74LS00 chip with the same result.
After checking the schematic of the encoder board in Jim Sathers book, p 7-16, i found that the connection between the KB and encoder ROM is the same as in p 7-16. The output B1-B9 is not connected to a LS7404 but instead to a EPROM TMM 323D 2716.
The MUC board have two LS244 and one MC14001. I switched the cables between J2 and J3 but the same result, working numerical board and defect KB. I have checked the position of the 16-pin connectors and now its correct with pin 1 as +5v and 8 as ground.
I dont know what wrong. Is there anybody who have seen this boards or know anything about them. Suggestions what to test or replace.? I have downloded the BIN file from TMM323D but dont know if there are ploblems with that EPROM.
