Does anyone know how to hack a Teleport Gold IIp Geoport modem into a standard serial modem? I've found out on various sites that this is possible, but the page they link to is dead! The only two relevant sites i've found are:

Did the exact thing for a modem for an SE, I even pulled the required 5V from inside the Mac! IIRC I added an 1/8" audiojack to the back of the SE's case and a 2 wire cord with the matching 1/8" plug into the modem.
Of course, you could put a PS socket into the modem and use a normal 5v wallwort . . .

Great - it powers up beautifully from an adapter, but there's one hitch: how the devil do you remove the extra pin without damging the surrounding pins?!? :?
