Problem with fan when ading another Grafik Card on a G5 running osx panther

Hi,

I hope someone has an solution for this problem!

I have a g5 dual 2GHz. It came with a 64mb ati grafik card, and i put in a ati Radeon 9600xt with 128 Mb. This is the one that comes with the build to order Mac g5 dual 2 Ghz and also with the newer ones.

now the funny thing is that everything workes fine, exept of the fan (the top one, next to the speaker) runs at full power. I did everything (firmware upgrade, Param resets, motherboards resets), talked to specialists of allkinds, and finally talked to apple care, there anwser was great:
We do not support you if you change the grafik card, even if it's the one that comes build to order on the same machine!!!

ok, i figuered maybe someone has an idea how to make this settings in the firmware. im sure its only a change in a variable. i have the same machine runnig fine with the same grafic card. So i know it is possible, the only diffrent that it came biuld to order with the card!

any hints on open firmware, how to find out the fan settings or the grafik card settings, are very welcome!

Thanks in advance!

gustavo

The graphic card is a user r

The graphic card is a user replaceable part, meaning they should support the machine itself, which is what that fan is bolted too. To me it sounds like the fan needs to be recalibrated. Although I am not sure why it would have lost its cal.

Calibrating

Calibrating the fan is also something that someone suggestet... But how do you do that when ther is no error. We did not get the option to calibrate after booting wit han Apple Service Daig CD vers. 2.4.4. I seems that everything is alright!

but meaby there is another way to calibrate the Fan?

Beee

thanks!!!
