iBook G4 drive removal

Does anyone have instructions on how to dismantle an iBook G4 and remove the cd drive? I seem to have a cd jammed inside mine.

Which one?? There's the 12-inch Late 2004, 14-inch Late 2004, iBook G4 (Early 2004), iBook G4 (14-inch), and iBook G4 (14-inch Early 2004). They are all a pita to take apart.

Just so you know ahead of tim

Just so you know ahead of time, its not an easy task for those not familiar with laptop disassembly. You have to remove the top and bottom pices, and the shielding. Which really isnt that much, just that a lot of people try to do it, get partially in, and then decide they cant.

Also: uhm... why not just push the little button with a paper clip?!

Hi there, thanks for the repl

Hi there, thanks for the replies guys. it's a 14" G4 933, which ever one that is. What happened was I inserted a CD, it wouldn't eject, but I managed to get it out. There was a sticky piece of felt on the cd with blobs of sticky black stuff. Now the drive won't accept a CD - won't insert more than 1/3rd of the way.

I've taken tray loading iBooks apart before to fit new hard drives. Took me about 4 hours, but the price Apple wants to do this is ridiculous - about 200 GBP + parts if I remember correct.
