I've got a 1997 G3 Minitower w/ 2 optical drives. My idea is to take a blank drivebay bezel, file down all the clips and catches and such, and attach it to the front of the drive tray of one of my optical drives (perhaps using a block of hard foam as a spacer) so that when the drive is closed, it would appear that there is no drive there, and when opened, the bezel would slide out with the tray. Thus making the front of my towr completly flush (except for my CD-RW (which has the origional opticla drive bezel) and my floppy). Think it'l work.

Sounds cool, a bit like the 6100CD then (I think it's not on the new site yet, might be wrong)
It will work, as long as you correctly space the drive from the bezel. My guessing is that there is quite a big gap between the two.

Yeah, there is quite a bit of space. i think im going to use some hard packing foam as a spacer, so i can easily trim it down to a perfect fit.
make sure to attach a bit of plastic to the bezel so you can press on the bezel and activate the drive eject button, and make the spacing foam able to flex to be able to achieve opening of the drive via the button.
I'll keep it that in mind, however, im able to open the drive by holding the F12 key. As for my progress: well... i havent made much yet. I've been kind of busy with classes, and work, so... Im also looking for a sutable material, although i think i've found it. When im done, i'll post a write up in the hacks section.
