i was wondering if there is a program for a b/w g3 that allows the front powerlight to fade in and out while its asleep, like the newer macs?

That's not software that does the pulsing, it's hardware.
so theres no firmware update or anything that could tell it to do that?
No, but you could probably modify the lights with a simple little circuit if you really wanted it. But it's not going to be a simple "press a key and it works" thing if that's what you were looking for.
