Digital Picture Frame w/video?

I see there are many posts about converting a mac into a picture frame for slide show purposes... but can the same thing be done with a video instead of just a picture?
My idea is to film a rose open and close, and than have it on my wall playing the video, so at night the rose closes and in the morning it opens up. Might take more power? It shouldnt be that hard to do, instead of using the JPEGView... use some sort of video viewing software? Any Suggestions? Also might need more hardware support?
Any comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

a few thoughts

create animated GIFs for the opening and closing sequences, then create an applescript to play them at the right time of day?

If you have Quicktime Pro...

You can throw a movie together in imovie and also stick slides into it, then go full screen on Quicktime Pro...If you don't have Quicktime Pro, GET IT.
