G4 MDD CPU in Quicksilver?

Is it possible to put a G4 MDD processor into a Quicksilver if the MDD CPU has a 133 MHz bus? Taking a look at photos of the MDD processor module, I'm not seeing a 4th screw mount for the 12V supply on MDD processors. Do they not require the 12V line?

Peace,
Drew

nope

Discussed here several times, conclusion was the processor won't work as it's a significantly different CPU - the earlier AGP G4s are based on the UniNorth chipset and the MDD is not. Plus the MDD CPU card overhangs on the wrong side of the slot, obstructing the RAM slots.

Search AF for MDD or mirror

BTW, here's a discussion of my homebrew QS upgrade solution . . . I had eBought a cheapish dually 800 sans heetsinque . . .

Thanks Dan

That's kind of what I thought. I just hadn't seen any other mention of it. I guess I didn't look hard enough! Wink

Ultimately, I'm looking for a processor upgrade for my DA G4. I was thinking that if MDD processors worked with QS G4s, then they'd work with the DA with a little bit of hacking. I guess the best I'll find is a high end QS processor or a 3rd party upgrade (which are over priced considering how easy it is to adapt a QS G4 processor to the DA G4).

Peace,
Drew
