The G4 Ibooks where not the o

The G4 Ibooks where not the ones with the painted lids. if you want to change it you could go buy an older cover off ebay or something but make sure it is from a 700mhz g3 ibook or lower, then you can take the paint off and repaint it.

Yeah, there was a thread or two on dyeing the plasics, and a few who did so, but not many photos of the results. It sounded like a neat process.

if you screw up, don;t use go

if you screw up, don;t use goof off to fix the mistake. it makes the polycarbonate crystallize and soften. i'm just saying this because, well-coughs-i had a really bad experience with that and my g4, and now the computer itself is starting to die (unrelated to the destroyed case, of course ^_^).

The lid plastics should fit without any problems, but the bottom plastics won't... mainly because of the difference in optical drives (the G3s have a tray loading drive, the G4s have a slot loading one).

You could look at those MacSkinz things, they are a pretty cool idea really and it saves painting:

And no, it doesn't take more than that to get a unique iBook...
