Alternate publications to Campus newspapers

A friend of mine and I are trying to start up a magazine on a college campus where we attend. She is the current editor of another newspaper, and I have an old mac. Match made in heaven?

((Especially when the campus newspaper publishes the following, which is probably not safe for work...

I'm looking for ideas- technical ones, such as "can someboy remind me how the h#ll you make a pdf on system 7" and "What's the earliest edition of Quark availible", but especially

HOW CAN SUCH A THING BE DISTRIBUTED?!!

(Aside from pdf or going to Kulhalvi lab and printing off about 500 pages, under the guise of "I pay for it, why not?")

...I'm also looking for content, but that can wait a minute. We're shooting 20-50 pages per month, if that's resonable.

I say pick up an old Laserjet

I say pick up an old Laserjet 4MV, you can usually find them cheap. They will print up-to 11"x17" paper. If you do front and back and fold it in half you would get 4 pages.
I paid $40 for mine this past summer, and $20 for a JetDirect card. The other good thing is that it supports post-script so printing from a Mac is no problem.

While not the most elegant solution it would be fairly low cost to get going. Then once it starts to grow you can move up to fancier equipment.

I would also suggest avoiding using University owned equipment to do this. If you end up pissing someone off it is best not to give them that ammunition.

Making a PDF on system 7 is easy. I have a couple of printer drivers that output to a PDF file. I believe that one of them is either freeware or shareware. Send me a PM if you are interested.

I'm not sure *What* would piss them off...

((Sad thing: *everything* in this cartoon is true...))

I have PSPrinter and that's supposed to do it... but I don't think it was configured right...
