emate hinge fix - speaker side

Speaker-side hinge. Added dimpled washer to help prevent springs from popping out again.

emate - repair tinning

After scraping down to bare metal on the punctured cables, I polished them smooth with an eraser. This really made a difference, as solder tinned the cables far better than it did on my practice cable that wasn't 'erased'.

emate - ribbon cable repair

One side of the LCD cable is done. I used wire strands taken from a CPU power supply fan wire. They're darned tiny, but so's the cable.
The ribbon cable repair sites I've been to just don't give you a sense of how small this cable is. I was reading the one PDF available and thoought 'geez, why's that guy using such heavy packing tape?' Turns out it's standard 1" wide masking tape. You can get a bit of scale from the X-Acto knife in the photo.

The ribbon-cable side hinge, popped out and ripping the snot out of the cable. Punctured in two spots on the one side, two spots on the other side.

16 bit (68 pin) connector has been bent upwards to an angle of around 15 degrees in order to better accept some SCSI cables with 'fatter' connector heads.
