ProFile Cable: Need Reminder, Is it DB25 Straight Through?

I am pretty sure that the cable for the ProFile is DB25, wired straight through, male to male. That is from memory of the last time I had to replace one, in the mid 1990s. Can anyone confirm this?

How do you know which version of AppleDOS you have?

I picked up an Apple IIc for $30 which was not in great shape, but I think I've got everything working on it.  The upper bank of memory had 4 bad DRAM's which I 've replaced, I upgraded it to the 4X ROM, cleaned the disk head, fixed the volume control, and got the keyboard cleaned up and working decently.  It was so grimy when I got it, but lots of cleaning and some retrobrighting and it looks pretty decent now.  I didn't get all the yellow removed so it would look white like the bottom, but it looks good.

Turbo Pascal for Apple II CP/M - Graphic support?

Did Turbo Pascal for Apple II CP/M ever support Apple II graphics modes? I have been writing some simple Pascal programs with Turbo Pascal 2.0 on my Apple II Plus with MS Softcard. I would like to add some graphics, but got errors when I tried some commands like HGR, GR or Hires. My Turbo Pascal 2.o User Manual is buried in the garage in a box somewhere and I can not find anything about Apple II graphics support via a web search.

][+ Slot Issue, Disk ][ Card, Possibly Others

One of my Rev 7 ][+ bench boards recently started doing somethign rather odd: When a (known good) Disk ][ card is installed in Slot 7, the system works as expected, but if the same card (tested on other machines) in installed in slot 6 or a lower slot, the system exhibits random errors and crashes. The video output becomes distorted (dims, flickers, oscillates), and/or it tries to boot and crashes, or it simply hangs with a wavy video output.

I only noticed this because I had to load CP/M for a test, and CP/M needs to run from slot 6...

IIc Keyboard Encoder broken?

Antoher day another broken IIC ;)

I bought a european version - It boots and gives me a "System OK" with Rom4x but i cant use the keyboard.

it reads the keys multiple times - like if i press "W" it prints "WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW" ...

I reseated all ICs and sprayed with contact cleaner. I swapped the original 255 Rom and checked all the traces around the keyboard encoder and so on...

oh and tried another keyboard...

any ideas? easy fix?

I never realized they made this! [Apple II paint matching]

So I have been around for quite a while in the Apple II world and have worked for dealers when I was a young pup in college and I have never seen one of these.  Did I just miss out, or is this a "modern day"  creation?

Troubleshooting IIc disk drive questions

I just got a IIc yesterday, and it came with a disk that has "The Apple at Work" on it. At first, it loaded but I got some corruption at places. I then patially disassembled the whole computer, cleaned the disk head and put it mostly back together. Disk worked perfectly after that. I took it out, tossed it onto my desk and fully disassembled the computer and REALLY cleaned everything, but didn't touch the disk drive since it was working fine. Put it back together again, and the computer works fine, but the disk just spins and the access light stays on forever.

10MB Profile Drive Questions

Hello Everyone,

I am in the process of recapping the power supply for my 10MB Profile HD to try to get it working again.  About 10 years ago when it was lasted plugged in the magic smoke came out of the back of the drive.  One of the bypass .01uf caps is broken in two so I suspect it was the smoker.
