Maybe it's the time of year. I find myself wanting to try homemade Applesoft BASIC games.

Weird issues on a couple II's...

Firstly, am dealing with an original Apple II. Fire it up, it shows the usual garbled characters, then the monitor prompt. Hit reset. Another monitor prompt appears just below it. The rest of the keyboard is unresponsive. Machine has 32KB of RAM installed in it, and does exactly the same thing whether or not there are any cards in it. Also is the same with the shift key mod installed or reverted to stock. Other than this issue, and the usual iffy video out jack, it seems to be a solid machine with just the usual layer of dust from sitting for nine years or so.

Has anyone used a Sequential Systems SecondSight on an Apple IIe?

Hi there,
Has anyone got or used a Sequential Systems SecondSight on an Apple IIe and a VGA monitor? In the manual it says the following modes are not compatible:

Double Hi-Res
Double Low-res

Just wondering if many programs or games use these resolutions? What are your thoughts or comments?

Thanks,
Rob

Apple IIe enhancement kit questions

Hi there,
I located the US enhancement kit for my Apple IIe PAL and it seems the video ROM is a lot smaller than the PAL version. It does not fit my socket???

The US video rom is listed as: 342-0265-A on the http://www.reactivemicro.com website but in the Official Apple IIe document its referred to the character ROM and the PAL german video ROM is listed as: 342-0275.

No buffers available (repost)

Sorry about the two previous posts. They both send no data (for some reason) and thus cannot be viewed.

Anyways, I am making a program here called Grapedesk. It was supposed to be a surprise final version (1.2), but because this error exists, I am forced to reveal it early.

Disk II drive problems

I am trying to repair 2 x disk II drives where they pass the speed tests I run on them (hooked up as the second drive) but they don't seem to even register when I do an allignment test (or other drive tests I have disks for).

Before condemning the circuitry, and having spent quite some time studying the mechanics of the ones I am trying to fix, I note the two 'stainless' bars on which the stepper motor adjusts the position of the head have a little corrosion on them and the movement of the unit along them is not smooth and in some places faces resistance.

Store Demo Software?

I have searched around the net to see if there was ever 'store demo software' available which the Apple retailers would have used, maybe some sort of rolling demo, but have found nothing (so far). My reason for asking is that if such a thing existed, it would look great running on the II+ I have sat behind my desk at work! I am sure with time and effort it would be possible to try and put something together myself, I was just looking for an easy period solution.
