Apple II

Very early Apple II+ from ebay

I thought about buying this but passed. Beyond the bragging rights I didn't see much point.

Rev 4 Motherboard not starting properly and no beep

see pics, I get the ampersands and no beep from the speaker.

Things I've tried:

Different power supply
gently pulling all accessible chips up and reinserting
replacing CPU chip

Also I replaced all the Roms from another board because 3 of the roms had rusty pins that broke off.

would love to get it working but no matter what I do I get the same powerup screen so there must be a bad chip or memory.

Should I try replacing all the memory or a different approach?

Thanks

Help me Steve Jobs your my only hope

As it is most commonly known, Carrie Fisher (of Star Wars) and
Debbie Reynolds passed away last year.

What I did not know and have found out the Debbie Reynolds
owned an Apple II.

It is a ventless Apple II and low serial number. (AS1-0082)

This is up for auction now and expected to go between
$1000-$2000 (US) along side of the other belongs they owned.

Apparently Debbie used it as in inventory database.
(I wonder what software she used)

Are there any other celebrities that owned/still owe an Apple II?

Which ROMS are needed in the Apple II / II+ for machine to function

Can someone tell me what is the bare minimum ROMS to install to have a usable Apple II?

There are ROM D0, D8, E0, E8, F0, F8 sockets

Which ones are dedicated to basic, and which ones are for disk and other purpose? How did the configuration change when apple switched from Integer basic to Applesoft.

In person an in pictures I have seen different combinations and empty sockets.

Wanted: Apple II Joystick or Adapter

I have several Apple II joysticks that are made for the IIe (9-pin) but none for the II/II+, or an adapter to go from the chip socket to 9-pin.

Does anyone have any reasonably-priced adapters or any extra regular II joysticks for sale/trade?

Apple 2c hardware revision identification

While I wait for items to fix my 2c monitor and get it and the 2c up and running I opened it up and have done some reading. I came across some information on modding it while i was looking to see if i could upgrade the memory I found some versions can be upgraded and have a socket to do that. My question is without being able to see the output how do i identify what hardware revision I have? I believe I have the 32bit version because w2 connected and w1 is not, past that I don't know. Is there somewhere I can find the information?

Thanks
Mike

When did Apple shrink the size of the open/close Apple keys?

I have three Apple IIe's (non Platinum) and on one of them, the open/close Apple keys are much larger than the other two. It's almost the size of the entire key. In fact, it almost looks comically large...lol

I can't say that I like it or hate it. I thought about swapping them out for my primary IIe and see if they would grow on me. Smile

So when did Apple decide to shrink them?

Apple 3

I have a slightly balky Apple /// that I've just fired up for the first time in years. It boots into ADTPro ok but on other disks it gives me a system failure 6 message. Or if I let it sit in ADT it will at some point crash to error 2.

Wondering what the best approach would be for figuring these out?
