Apple II on Podcast

First, I want to say thanks to all the people on here who helped my get my Apple II up and running, and w/ configuring ADT, etc.

A couple of friends and I have a podcast that covers both modern and retro gaming topic. Due to the great time I have been having redisovering the Apple II, we devoted an hour of our latest show to a discussion of how many of the design features, etc. of the Apple II were driven by video games (Breakout, etc.).

Apple IIe Original vs Apple IIe Platinum?

Hi everyone.

I'm knew to the Apple IIe world, and wanted to ask the following question. What is the difference between the original Apple IIe and the Platinum? I know about the keypad, but other than that are there any differences and will all the add-on boards, software, etc... work in a Platinum that works in the original system?

Help me identify this disk controller

I found this card in an Apple ][E. It seems to be a floppy disk controller, but I have no idea what kind. The firmware ROM says it was made by Applied Engineering, but the silkscreen on the board says Vtech. Anyone have more info on this thing? I'm curious as to whether or not it can handle high-density drives (since it appears to be new enough for that).

Converting Apple II images back to disk?

Hi everyone!

I wanted to ask some questions on how hard/easy it is to convert apple IIe disk images back to real floppies. I've seen some posts that describe a few methods, but I wanted to ask about these other concepts that might exist. I've seen similar methods for other classic systems, and I'm hoping to determine which is the easiest, fastest and most affordable way to do it on an Apple IIe.

Question on Apple IIe software.

Hi,
I was looking for some information on a game that was released for the Apple IIe, but I never saw the original box, manual, disk, etc... The game was a computer version of TSR's Dungeon boardgame. Does anyone have this as an original or know if there is any detailed information on the web for this game? I'm very curious to check it out.

Apple IIe purchasing?

Where is the best place to try and purchase Apple IIe equipment? I'm looking for a system in nice working condition, drives, monitor, add-on boards, etc... I see them on eBay and could begin bidding there, but as I learned when I began collecting for classic MACs, there are soem better places than eBay to purchase Mac equipment. I joined a mailing list for the MAC (LEM Swap List). Is there a similar list for Apple IIe equipment, or am I better off just going through eBay?

Apple ][+ repair

Hello all, I have an Apple ][+ computer here that I'd like to repair, yet I have no idea what's going on with it. when I first got it, I tried the DOS disk but quickly found out that either the controller or the drive itself wasn't working properly. I removed the components and tried again. This time, monitor came up and everything was all good and I had my fun tinkering with the basic language.

The next day, I went back and turned it on, but i was no longer greeted with "APPLE ][", but with this;

Help needed in fixing DuoDisk controller

Does anyone have an Apple ][ with the DuoDisk drive? I recently found one but the controller card is missing the connector. A clear picture of the interconnect cable that goes bewteen the card and the connector that bolts onto the back of the case would give me all the information I need to replace it.

Is it a straightforward pin-for-pin arrangement or are lines swapped around before they reach the DB-19 connector?

Asynchronous Serial Interface Card

I have attached a picture of the Asynchronous Serial Interface card I am trying to get working with my Apple II Europlus: NOT FOUND: 1 I have no cable to connect to the 26 pin header labelled J2, but I am hoping it will work as an RS-232 port by just connecting a 25 core ribbon cable to a standard D-25 connector. There are 4 switches labelled "BAUD RATE" at the top right as well - If I can't get any specific information on this card, I suppose I'll just have to toggle them into various configurations and see if I can get a connection.
