- Biography
- I've been involved with electronics since the mid-1970s. Bought my Apple /// in 1982. Most of my career was spent working on the design of test equipment used in the electronics manufacturing industry - PC's, automotive, telecom, etc. I did a lot of 6800/6502 assembly, then moved into Pascal, then C, then Verilog (for FPGA's). I built a wire-wrapped GPIB controller (and wrote a driver) for the A/// in 1986 to control/read bench top test equipment, data acquisition units and printers.
I moved on to PC's in 1988, but never got rid of any of my A/// "stuff". I bought a ton of accessories and software when it was cheap from Sun Remarketing and OnThree.
Now that I'm retired I've been dabbling with the Arduino ecosystem and trying to "get back to my youth" by pulling all the old equipment out of storage and trying to get it running again. Discovering I've forgotten much of what seemed to be trivial 35 years ago.
